My Top 5 Whitney Houston Songs

Today is the homegoing service for Whitney Houston, one of the greatest singers ever, and I want to create a list of my favorite songs by “The Voice.”

I remember my mom and I having a conversation about singers. We were naming female artists who we thought had nice voices, and I said that I don’t think there’s ever been a singer who had a better voice than Whitney Houston. Mariah Carey and Alicia Keys can sing. Yolanda Adams is great. But, no one could touch Whitney. Her voice was strong. It was pure. You could feel the passion.

Let me just get my list together before I get so emotional. Here goes:

1.) “You Give Good Love”

2.) “How Will I Know”

3.) “Saving All My Love for You”

4.) “I Have Nothing”

5.) “Run to You”

Rest in peace, Whitney.

VIDEO: “Lost in Your Love”

Tyler Woods Lost in Your Love Produced by E. Jones, directed by Kenneth Price

Well, well, well. Hip-Hop has always been my life. Sure I’ve liked R&B, but over the past few years, I could do without it because all of these singers have the same style. Since R&B definitely wasn’t doing anything for me, I was okay with not listening to it because hip-hop is the love of my life anyway.

In my Sophia from “Golden Girls” voice, “Picture it: The Brewery. Raleigh, NC. February 26, 2011. A young guy hits the stage and begins to sing.” (I love Sophia.) You ever get so captivated by something that you feel you are the only one in the room experiencing it? When Tyler Woods began singing “Lost in Your Love,” I became lost in his voice, the words, and the music. (I was sold at that very moment. I was in love with Tyler Woods. He could sing the ABCs, and I would buy it off iTunes. *sighs*)

“Lost in Your Love” instantly became one of my favorite love songs, and I’m so glad there’s a visual for it now. Shout out to Tyler Woods, E. Jones, and Kenneth Price!
